I love how this image is full of empty space, wonderful natural empty space, with the only thing in perfect focus being the subject, my girlfriend, herself hooking off into the distance out of shot. The sky is overcast, the tress in the distance are nicely blurred but a different tone to the rolling grass and brush which is itself focused in minute detail at the front of the shot but tails off into the background giving a perfect example of 3D depth in a 2D image. My girlfriend is sat on a rough hewn pathway leading through this field that leads nicely into the rear of the image, with the path itself being a good example of man vs nature, flattened down by people walking over it but overgrown and surrounded on all sides by the grass that hasn’t been touched and is reaching out to reclaim the area for itself. I have this photograph in a frame in my house, it’s one of my favourite that I’ve taken so far.
This was taken with a Nikon FM with a 28mm lens on Ilford FP4 ISO 125 film.
