Taken a while ago using my Nikon FM and 28mm lens on Ilford FP4 125 ISO monochrome film. I like this shot because it looks so peaceful, the bench under the tree giving a view beyond the castle walls which cut through the centre of the shot and separate the man made foreground from the rugged nature of the hills and forests in the distance. It’s quite underexposed in the foreground which maybe adds a little something, the shade of the tree almost covering up the human figure almost suggesting that the natural world could easily smother us at any time. And the overexposure of the distance perhaps gives it a foggy, misty look, giving the hills more distance and height, almost making it look like they are poking through the clouds. The tree to the far left of the shot nicely frames the image I feel.
