Trip to Lacock

Lacock is a village in Wiltshire, England, one of those places that looks like the stereotype you conjure up in your head when someone describes a village in rural England, period drama’s have been filmed there for it’s look for that very reason. Me and my girlfriend took a trip there last weekend as I have family who live in the area and it was a nice day, the below are some of the images I took on that day. All are taken with my Nikon D5200 and with a 28mm AF Nikkor 1:2.8 D lens (an old manual lens so good old fashioned manual focus).

Project 52: Week 22; Portrait – Hands

A very similar brief to week 7 of this project, and therefore probably a little pointless but this week the subject is portrait – hands. I happened to have another image of someone’s hands, my girlfriend again from a while ago when she was making dough for pizza’s.

Some More Street Photography

A post that doesn’t quite fit into my usual street photography theme, that being because it’s neither taken on film nor with my Olympus EM-5. This time a few images taken with my Nikon D5200 and 50mm Nikkor 1:1.4 lens, not my usual street photography set up for good reason, it’s a DSLR and pretty big especially with the battery grip I have attached to it. These are a few images I took some weeks ago when I was in the park, they seem to fit the bill of street photography and probably adds to the old adage that the best camera you can have is the one you have with you at the time.

 ISO 100, f4, 1/200th sec. I purposely waited for this girl to be central to the image with the lamp post cutting the frame at about two thirds across from the right, framing her as the line meets the path itself. The dog just next to her was a nice bonus.

Another one I waited for the main focus of the image, the girl on a bike, to be as central as possible, this time there’s nothing to really frame her but the tree on the left and it’s branches do jut out around her and the empty space to the left draws your eye towards her.

Another image that utilises empty space to draw your eye to the main purpose of the image, the man sat on the bench to the extreme right, the fact he is a little lighter than the background tree’s also helps and add’s a little bit of a three dimensional element. The distant boy’s playing football is a nice extra.
