Another selection of street photography images taken during my trip to Italia earlier this year, much earlier this year actually as it now feels like it was a lifetime ago. Take me back to Firenze please? As usual all images are taken on my Olympus OM-D EM-5 using either 17mm M.Zuiko or 25mm Panasonic Leica Summilux lenses. Enjoy.
17mm, ISO 200, f4, 1/1600th sec. The edge of Venezia itself, where the island meets the lagoon, St Marks’ Square meets the sea, where land meets water. Most of the boats moored up along here were the kind that go on day trips to other islands in the Venetian lagoon, I took this particular image due to the two people sat at the waters edge cooling off their feet from the burning sun.
25mm, ISO 200, f4, 1/100th sec. my girlfriend was in this store looking around, I preferred to stay outside and it gave me the chance to take this, the store owner caught in his own mirror and flanked on all sides by his wares.
17mm, ISO 200, f4, 1/250th sec. Anyone who has seen my “Nine Days In Italia” will probably recognise these guys, the musicians who were at this spot outside the Duomo in Firenze everyday they were there playing such strange hits as the Godfather theme song and Tom Jones Delilah. I like how captivated the crowd looks in this image, mesmerised by the music.
25mm, ISO 800, f4, 1/200th sec. The photographer in his natural environment, as in with his phone out and missing all of the great images just walking him by, for example this one of himself.
2500, ISO 800, f1.4, 1/20th sec. I like how the light is almost burning out everything around it as it emanates from the stall in this shot, lighting up those near it and drowning out those objects too close. It’s also very useful for drawing your eye to the couple sat on the bench.
25mm, ISO 200, f1.4, 1/10th sec. With all these people around you can still find a main focus of the image, hence the couple stood away from the crowd below them, the fencing and shape of the pathway framing them in the bottom left.
The black and white is a really great choice for these….the setting just seems right for it.
