One Year – Week Six

 6 weeks after moving in and we were off to a friend of ours wedding. This is my girlfriend dressed up for that occasion, I assume I’d been waiting for at least 4 hours at this point as she takes forever to do anything vaguely like getting ready. The wedding we went to is this one from a post last year.

Medium Format: One Hundred

So we’ve reached number one hundred of this series of medium format images, which when you consider how much I shoot that’s not a lot and I do have an awful lot more images to share.

Street Photography – Olympus OM-D EM-5; 85

Here’s another selection of street photography images taken recently (well January) around Cardiff with my Olympus OM-D EM-5. Enjoy

 25mm, ISO 400 f4, 1/60th sec. Saw this bicycle left outside this building and liked the way it was almost framed within the arched window it had been placed up against.

  25mm, ISO 400, f4, 1/1000th sec. If there’s one thing I love taking images of it’s interesting shadows and repetitive patterns, here’s both. A pattern of shadows from the fencing outside of the shot to the left casting itself repetitively along the pavement and at intervals along the road as well.

 25mm, ISO 400, f4, 1/500th sec. This guy didn’t want me to take his picture I guess. If you didn’t, then why step into the light area along the stairway and make yourself stand out so much against the shadow that follows you curving down?

Saw these two people stood around reading a map and the whole sense of scale of them and the castle walls behind meant I stood on the apposite side of the road taking images of them in between the passing traffic that blocked them intermittently from view. They just so happened to be stood in a patch of light that lit them up as well, emanating from the side of the road I was stood on.

 25mm, ISO 250, f4, 1/2500th sec. Annoyingly this was taken just after these two guys had turned around and started walking, I like the shadow casting across the one guys back almost like an arm over his shoulder.

Hungarian Adventure – Part One: To Palinka Or Not To Palinka?

If you’re a regular visitor or follower of this blog you might be aware that I visited the Hungarian capital of Budapest about a month ago (if you’re not a regular or are new, hi there I visited Budapest a month ago. As you can imagine I can’t go anywhere without having at least one photographic capturing device on me at all times and a short break is not only no different, it’s an excuse to specifically create a project based on the trip itself. So with that in mind, welcome to Part One of my Hungarian Adventure photo series. This was my attempt to document the, roughly, 5 days in the city on film in a similar fashion to my “Nine Days In Italia” project from last year. I aimed to shoot a roll of film a day and then document the results along with the various activities that took place on each of those days. Unfortunately a roll a day didn’t quite work out, mainly because I was not technically there for 5 whole days due to travelling times but also because it’s pretty hard to shoot 36 images a day that you think are going to be worthwhile. However over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing with you what I did take and what me and my girlfriend got up to, I hope you enjoy.

London Eye

A selection of images taken back in December 2016 when I went down to London for a trip on the London Eye (yes really we went all that way to go on a ferris wheel, ok and do some other things). All images are taken on Ilford FP4 125 film using my Olympus OM-1 and 50mm F.Zuiko lens.

Budapest In The Dark

A few images of Budapest I took on my recent trip there. As these are taken with a micro four thirds sensor camera (my Olympus OM-D EM5 to be exact), which are notorious for being not great in low light, they are just OK, I guess. Then again the city is beautiful especially when lit up at night so I guess you couldn’t take a bad image of it.

One Year – Week Five

Week five of my year long Instax project. This is the classic games console set up we had after we decided to get hold of the tiny TV my girlfriend had in her parents house, annoyingly it didn’t work with the N64 of Super Nintendo you see pictured (we had an ancient telly for that instead).
