Ho Pendolare

“Pendolare” is the Italian verb to describe something being like a pendulum going back and for, and also used to describe commuting to and from work. About a year ago the office that the company I work for moved from an out of town and drive-able location to a new building in the city centre, meaning I could no longer drive to work and now had to catch a train. Because of this I realised I had time to read a lot more on the journey and also be able to take a camera with me and document my journey. For the last 12 months this is what I’ve been doing. I decided to go with the title as it happened to be a word I picked up during one of my Italian language classes and I thought it sounded a bit more interesting than boring old English.

Below are some of the images I made across the last year on my regular journey, they’re from a variety of film stocks and cameras and are both digital and analogue, including; Olympus OMD EM5, Olympus OM-1 and Canon AE-1 Programme, Ilford FP4 125 and Fomapan Classic 100.  I hope you enjoy and let me know your thoughts.

Italian Trip Images

As regular followers of this site may be aware across November I took a trip around Italy, travelling from Turin to Rome and stopping off in Genoa, Lucca and Florence on the way. I’ve shared a few of the images I took as and when I had the chance while I was still in Italy, and as the vast majority of the images I shot were done so on film that hasn’t yet come back from the lab, at present I don’t have a huge amount to show for it. That is except for these.

This is a small selection of images, mostly snapshots, I took while out there using my digital Olympus OMD EM5 and it’s 17mm M.Zuiko 1:1.8 lens. I will stress these are “snapshots”, the good stuff (i.e. shot on medium format film)should be available to share by the end of this week or early next week. Enjoy these for the moment.

Little Update 3

Hello again, you may or may not be aware I am currently in Italy and have been for the past two weeks or so. What you may not be aware of is that I return to the UK in a few days time (Tuesday night to be specific), which is a ‘BOOOOO!’ moment except for the fact that it means I can get back to sharing images on here more regularly (hoorah) and start the laborious process of developing the 25 rolls or so of film that I have taken.

Anyway until I can get that lot developed here’s a few images from the trip that aren’t taken on film, these have been posted on my Instagram already but you may not look at that so here they are again, all are digital and from my Olympus OMD EM5. Enjoy.
