Digital Camera’s

As this blog has somewhat developed from being purely a film photography blog I thought perhaps it’s about time to add a page that show’s the digital equipment I use, as well as the film equipment which can be found here.

Nikon D5200

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The reason this is leaning forward? Because that Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens attached to it is damn heavy! Landscape photography is not for the unfit or those afraid to gain huge upper body strength. I’m not making this up, I’m quite a slight guy but since I started hefting this set up up and down cliffs and mountains my shoulders have gotten somewhat wider. Anyway this is my standard kit for landscape photography, along with a tripod and ND filters. It’s not the highest level DSLR on the market, it’s got an APS-C sensor rather than a full frame, and it’s certainly not the most expensive or up to date, Nikon have release the D5300 and D5500 since. However it has been reliable for me, easy to use, and above all gives me no hassle when it comes to lugging it into the wilderness.

On a side note, the Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6 EX DC lens in that shot is a cracking wide angle lens.

Olympus OM-D EM-5

OM-D EM-5

The newest addition to the 6 Million P Man’s arsenal, coupled with a 17mm (34mm in equivalent full frame) 1.8 lens this is mostly used for street photography, I’ve been sticking with Olympus for that sort of thing, just call me an Olympus fan boy. It’s light, very discreet, mirror-less so no clacking loud mirror or shutter to alert crowds and also it’s weather sealed so the wonderful Welsh weather doesn’t have to stop me pounding the streets. Any street photography posted on here that isn’t on film is highly likely to have been shot on this.
