Street Photography – Olympus OM-D EM-5; 80

Welcome to another selection of street photography images taken by me using my Olympus OM-D EM-5, these are the last few that I took in 2016 (yes I’m that far behind with sharing my images, just wait until you see how far behind on the analog stuff I am). Enjoy and comment away.

Rain.jpg 25mm, ISO 800, f1.4, 1/1000th sec. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you can’t take photos. This was shot from the inside of my office looking out onto the street, I noticed the rain splashing down on the puddles on the balcony and was aiming to capture the moment a raindrop or two hit the ground, the reflected buildings is a nice extra.

Southbank.jpg 25mm, ISO 800, f1.4, 1/50th sec. A pretty standard street image, an interesting person going about their business and positioned nicely in the frame in the first third of the left side of the image. I like the balloons but also the little hand reaching up towards the woman, you don’t need to see the rest of the child the arm reaching out from behind the pram says enough.

Sunrise.jpg 25mm, ISO 400, f2.8, 1/640th sec. Sometimes I get off the train to work a sop early, especially if the light is good as I inevitably end up with half hour or so where I can take pictures before I need to get to the office, this is one such occasion. The sun was just rising between the two buildings in the background causing a shaft of light to glow through the middle of them and down along the ground, I just waited for someone like this guy to walk into the frame and have his reflective shadow cast in the right place. I am particularly pleased with how this came out as it’s one of those rare occasions where what I imagined in my mind is exactly what materialised once I fired the shutter.

  1. A friend of mine was thinking of selling me his Olympus OM-D EM-5, but still hasn’t decided if he was really going to let go of it. I can pretty much see why, after seeing your work with it. 🙂 I liked your photos in this post.

    1. Thank You for your comment, it’s a really nice little camera, discreet and perfect for street photography as it packs quite a punch in such a small package.

  2. Really like the last photo mate. Glad you’re happy with it.
P.s. I didn’t notice the child’s arm in the second photo until I read the description underneath.
